CASE Appoints Convio Director of Higher Education David Lotz to Industry Advisory Council
Austin, Texas (December 1, 2008) —
Convio, Inc. today announced the appointment of David Lotz, higher education director at Convio, to the Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) Industry Advisory Council (IAC). Lotz will serve a three-year term as a member of the IAC, which will last through July 2011.
“The Industry Advisory Council represents the many firms serving and supporting educational advancement profession, and it’s an important resource for CASE and its members,” said John Lippincott, CASE president. “We’re very pleased to be able to tap the significant expertise that David Lotz and Convio will bring to the table.”
CASE is a professional association working to advance and support educational institutions around the world by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, communications, marketing, fundraising, and other advancement professionals who serve them. The IAC comprises of 15 representatives of CASE’s Educational Partners, affiliated companies that provide advancement-related services, and was established in 2003 as a means of strengthening the relationship and ensuring regular communication between CASE and its Educational Partners in all of the major advancement disciplines.
As a member of the IAC, Lotz will contribute executive counsel and advice on opportunities for CASE to better serve its corporate affiliates and expand its relationship with Educational Partners within the advancement industry. More specifically, the IAC’s mission is to provide advice and counsel on the following topics:
• broad industry trends and their implications
• matters related to gift reporting, data collection and reporting, communities of practice, and similar issues
• CASE’s relationship and opportunities with corporate partners
• research opportunities within advancement

In his role at Convio, Lotz oversees product direction, client service and strategy and sales for the company’s higher education clients and partners. He brings over 16 years of experience managing external relations for universities to Convio. Most recently, Lotz served as assistant dean for resource development at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, where he was responsible for the school’s fundraising efforts as well as alumni, donor and corporate relations. Additional prior experience includes positions at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Anderson School of Management, Baylor University and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).
