Convio to Provide Services to American Cancer Society Fundraising Efforts

Convio announced today that the American Cancer Society has moved to Convio's integrated, on-demand online fundraising platform to power and support the online fundraising needs of the Society's signature activity, Relay For Life®.

Each of the more than 4,800 Relays nationwide is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities to celebrate survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer. Relay For Life brings together friends, families, businesses, organizations, hospitals, schools, faith-based organizations... people from all walks of life. Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of eliminating cancer. More than three million participants were involved in Relay For Life in 2007, including more than 500,000 cancer survivors.

With TeamRaiser, American Cancer Society will empower volunteer fundraisers, individuals or Relay For Life teams to create and maintain their own fundraising Web sites, manage email communication between members, family and friends regarding their participation, post photos, links, provide progress reports and manage secure online and offline donations in support of their efforts. The platform integrates with the existing technology systems at the American Cancer Society, which enables the organization to access reports and information to more effectively and efficiently manage events.

In addition, Convio's integrated tools allow the American Cancer Society to use the Internet to establish and enhance interactive fundraising and awareness efforts with new individuals introduced to the organization through the TeamRaiser events.

National TeamRaiser takes corporate team relationships to new levels

Corporate teams have long been a mainstay of the Relay For Life success. The competition between corporate teams at the same office location or across the country has created the opportunity to expand awareness and raise money to support the mission. With Convio's National Team feature, each Relay For Life National Team has its own Web page where it is easy to view their top teams, participants, events, and the total amount raised online. A designated national coordinator for the corporation can easily modify this page to include a corporate logo and message. The coordinator can also run a variety of reports designed and selected by the American Cancer Society using Convio's Report Writer tool. This will help track and compare progress across teams from the same company.
