Convio Announces Significant Revenue Growth and Higher than Expected Sales Bookings in First Quarter of 2007
Austin, Texas (April 18, 2007) —
Convio, Inc. — a trusted partner that leads the way in helping nonprofits use the Internet strategically to get results — today announced that in the first quarter of 2007, revenue increased by more than 80 percent versus the first quarter of 2006. On a proforma basis (as if results from GetActive Software were included in all periods), first quarter revenue increased more than 40 percent versus the first quarter of 2006. The company has also made significant progress on its integration of GetActive which was acquired in February 2007. In addition to retaining key leadership of both companies and taking steps to integrate operations, the combined sales force delivered significantly more new business in the quarter than the company expected.
"The new business results for the quarter were reflective of the success we have had integrating the operations and cultures of Convio and GetActive, as well as market acceptance of bringing two of the foremost eCRM software and service vendors together," said Gene Austin, CEO, Convio, Inc. "This achievement demonstrates not only the commitment of our employees to serve the nonprofit community, it also shows that the acquisition strengthens our ability to provide the most innovative Internet solutions for high-impact fundraising, marketing and advocacy campaigns. While we still have work to do in integrating the two companies we have a strong foundation for success."
Convio and the former GetActive were widely recognized as two leading eCRM (electronic constituent relationship management) software and services vendors within the nonprofit sector. With the acquisition and new clients added in the first quarter of 2007, Convio now serves more than 1,400 nonprofits, charities, associations, and advocacy clients, including 26 of the top 50 nonprofits ranked in terms of funds raised.1
In addition to revenue growth the company is well funded with a strong balance sheet that currently reflects more than $15 million in cash.
"The financial results and success in the first quarter reflect significant progress in our ability to continue to grow and execute, while building a strong reputation as a trusted partner in helping nonprofits use the Internet to fulfill their missions," added Austin. "Convio's ongoing focus on client success, leadership and expertise, and commitment to the community we serve, bodes well for the company, our clients and the industry."
