Convio, Inc. Achieves Solid First Quarter Performance; Year-Over-Year Revenue Up Significantly by More Than 55 Percent
Austin, Texas (April 5, 2006) —
Convio, Inc. — the leading provider of on-demand software and services to help nonprofits use the Internet for building strong constituent relationships and driving support — began 2006 with continuing momentum, increasing first quarter revenue more than 55 percent year-over-year. The company's strong start this year follows revenue growth of approximately 50 percent for each of the last two calendar years.
Driving Convio's steady growth is the nonprofit sector's increasing demand for the company's market-leading online constituent relationship management (eCRM) software and services. New customers announced in Q1 2006 include The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and its 50-state network of chapters to support 1,100 fundraising special events. The company has grown its customer base more than 50 percent in the past year and now serves more than 550 nonprofit organizations.
Convio's "client success services," unique within the industry, also are contributing significantly to the company's revenue growth. Convio consultants work closely with customers seeking post-deployment help with strategy and implementation to ensure that they are optimizing their use of the Internet to produce effective marketing and fundraising campaigns.
"Convio has proven to be a clear leader in its market and is well-positioned for the long run," said Ken DeAngelis, General Partner, Austin Ventures, one of the nation's top venture capital firms with $3 billion under management and special focus on Texas and the Southwest. "While many technology companies founded during the Internet boom have failed or are still struggling, Convio has managed to accelerate growth at a very healthy pace. The company is well on track to continue its impressive growth throughout 2006 and in the years ahead."
Another important development in Q1 was Convio's announcement of Convio5, the company's new solution which is changing the landscape of Internet fundraising by providing organizations with an unprecedented level of power and flexibility to quickly create highly customized, campaign-specific marketing and fundraising programs.
"The demand for Convio's Internet tools has never been higher and our company has never been healthier," said Gene Austin, CEO, Convio. "From Convio's experienced management team and passionate employees to our leading product line-up and strong customer service and support offerings, we're performing solidly across all areas of the company. Our proven ability to execute and continued growth also sends a clear message to the marketplace that Convio is the company nonprofits can rely on as their Internet partner well into the future."
