Technology Industry Veteran Jim Offerdahl Joins Convio, Inc. as Chief Financial Officer
Latest Addition to Management Team Will Accelerate Growth of Award-Winning Internet Company Serving Nonprofit Sector
Austin, Texas (February 14, 2005) —
Convio, Inc. - the leading provider of software and services to help nonprofits use the Internet for building constituent relationships and driving support - today announced that Jim Offerdahl has joined the company's executive team as vice president and chief financial officer.
With more than 25-years of experience in the technology industry serving in progressive CXO positions, Offerdahl has a strong record of scaling companies, maximizing revenue growth, driving profitability and strengthening their position as marketplace leaders. Prior to joining Convio, Offerdahl was president and CEO of Austin-based Traq-Wireless, a market-leading provider of mobile resource management software and services to enterprises. Under Offerdahl's leadership, Traq's revenue grew nearly 7x in less than three years, and the company significantly enhanced its product capability.
"Jim brings a wealth of talent to Convio — proven vision and expertise in financial management and planning, combined with outstanding operational skills," said Gene Austin, CEO, Convio, Inc. "Convio's ability to attract such a seasoned executive is a testimony to our company's success to date, market leadership and bright prospects as a long term player serving the nonprofit marketplace."
Before Traq, Offerdahl served as COO and CFO for Pervasive Software, a developer and marketer of data management solutions for independent software vendors. At Pervasive, Offerdahl expanded the worldwide sales organization, driving revenue from $30 million in 1997 to $64 million in 1999, and led the company's successful initial public offering (IPO) and secondary offering. Prior to Pervasive, Offerdahl was CFO at Tivoli Systems, a developer and marketer of systems management software for corporate IT environments worldwide. During three-plus years at Tivoli, Offerdahl established IT, human resource and international financial functions, and improved sales processes to support revenue growth from $13 million to $50 million. He also led Tivoli's highly successful IPO.
"Much like the previous companies that I've been a part of, Convio is solidly positioned in a growth market," said Jim Offerdahl. "I look forward to contributing to Convio's growth while helping to accelerate the use of the company's advanced Internet technology within the charitable sector. Serving nonprofit organizations and helping them more effectively fulfill their missions makes being a part of the Convio team even more worthwhile."
Convio doubled its client base in 2004 compared with 2003 and now serves more than 350 nonprofits, including many of the nation's most prominent charitable organizations. The company's 2004 sales of $13.5 million were nearly double 2003 sales. Last year, Convio was named to Red Herring's prestigious "Top100 Private Companies" list and the Forbes list of fast-growing private technology companies. Additionally, the Austin Business Journal ranked Convio No. 1 on its 2004 list of the area's "Top 25 Fastest-Growing Companies" with annual sales of $10 million or less (based on revenue through 2003).
